Camano BluePoint Oyster Tracts is a one square mile tract of land, platted in 1933, south of Livingston Bay/Juniper Beach, in the middle of Port Susan saltwater. I was at the Camano Annex in the 1980's when someone came in and was wondering where the land was that he inherited that was taxed at $1 a year. It was a parcel in the BluePoint Oyster Tracts. I'll assume that the idea was to raise oysters on the "mudflats" of the area or to suspend them on floating rafts. There are no oysters in Port Susan that I know of.
Selling of state owned tidelands began with the birth of the state in 1889 according to this July 5, 1994 Stanwood/Camano News article. Oystering was/is a big business in Washington state since the 1850's.
